FAQ
Pick up the phone or use the contact form, whichever is most convenient. I’m only too happy to discuss your requirements – especially if it’s your dog’s first time. I am happy for you to view my facilities and have a chat but this MUST be by appointment only. I respectfully request that customers (new and existing) do not ‘cold call’ during or after working hours. The safety of the dogs in my care and the privacy of my home life is paramount.
Absolutely. My equipment is hydraulic so the height can be adjusted quickly and easily to reduce the strain on their joints and mine! My tables have harnesses to keep your dog stable and my bathing equipment is gated. I will always ask at the initial consultation if your pooch is dog friendly and I need complete honesty from you so that I can plan accordingly.
It’s important to brush your dog’s coat regularly as this is the best way to keep the coat from developing matts. There is no hard and fast rule on how often his should be done as this varies both on the breed of dog and also how often they are outside. All dogs will require some level of brushing inbetween professional grooming. If you are unsure how to brush your dog or what equipment you need just ask!
Matts are clumps of knotted hair that will not comb or brush out. Over a fairly short space of time matting will become very uncomfortable for your dog as they tighten against its skin. They can cause skin irritation as they collect dirt and grease attracting bacteria and parasites. The only solution for severe matts is for the hair to be clipped short. Please bear in mind that working through a matted coat would be extremely uncomfortable for the dog. Therefore in accordance with the Animal Welfare Act 2006 I will not attempt to ‘brush out’ a matted coat. Remember coats grow back incredibly quickly!
Drying is two stage. First, I use a fresh towel to remove the excess water and then I use powerful, temperature controlled blowers which not only remove water from the dog’s top coat, but also from it’s fleecy undercoat which is vital as this is used to keep your dog warm. Please note that I do not use drying cabinets.
If you suspect that your dog has fleas you will need to notify me PRIOR to the grooming session as we will need to postpone. If I find fleas on your dog during a grooming session I will contact you to collect your dog. Please bear in mind that my salon will need to be closed and treated to prevent other dogs from becoming infested.
